"Working with local communities to help build a sustainable future for people and the environment"

As a result of the success of a trial crafts programme in April 2007, where we were inundated with up to 50 children twice a week, we have now established a range of after school classes using local ladies as teachers. These local ladies have just completed their 10 week training course and have begun to teach the children. Nineteen classes a week are taking place at two venues with in excess of 200 children taking part. Each class will be taught as 4-8 week modules. This will enable the children and youngsters to learn many different arts and crafts skills such as hand sewing, braiding for bracelets, paper mache, macrame, art, singing and many other skills. Activities such as life skills, basic business understanding, chess, maths games, puzzles, dancing are proposed for the future.

Our teachers have been trained to recognise the signs of vunerability. By providing a focal point for children to congregate we have enabled other charities such as Childline the facility to offer much needed support.

Classes cost approximately £10 each which includes a small wage to our teachers and basic materials such as beads, felt, paper and pens. If you would like to sponsor a class please contact us.
