Masakhane Gym plays a valuable role in a community which has 80% unemployment. It provides a focal point for young men who could otherwise be tempted towards a life of crime, alcohol and drug abuse.
Since the arrival of new gym equipment, donated by James, and connection to a temporary electricity supply use of the gym has exploded, now there is a ladies session scheduled for 12-2pm every day.
A group of body builders who want to take their sport more seriously have emerged and with the help of local PE organisations, we are keen to support their endeavours. In their first competition 2 of the 6 competitors were awarded prizes for their 3rd and 4th places.
The Oliver Foundation is seeking support for this young, disadvantaged but enthusiastic group, to enable them to excel in their chosen sport. Contributions can be in kind; such as nutrition supplements, second hand equipment, mentoring or financial, which would include contributions towards competition fees and electricity overheads.
